About Broomtail Craft Brewery
Broomtail Craft Brewery is a Wilmington brewery and taproom built on a brewer's love of chemistry. Husband and wife Barry and Lisa Owings founded it in 2014. They pair her artistic ability with his scientific expertise to make consistent, high-quality beer.
Barry is a water chemist and formulator by profession, and he has homebrewed since 1990. Broomtail calls its method the Clean Beer process. Each recipe is built for its style, the water is stripped to pure H2O and rebuilt, and new beers are test brewed on a pilot system before they go to the main brewery.
Flagships include Acerbic Ecstasy, a hybrid English and West Coast IPA, and Hay Bale Ale, a cream ale. Red Roan Doppelbock, Elysium Bière de Garde, Galloping Göse and King Tide Kölsch Style Ale are on the list too. Call for the seasonal and rotating styles.
Broomtail Coffee and a homebrew shop share the Amsterdam Way address. The company's stated goal is to use only naturally harvested raw materials and sustainable practices.
