Breweries in New York

New York is one of the biggest brewery states in the country, and beer stores make up more than a quarter of the list. Shopping for cans to take home is as much a part of the map as sitting in a taproom.

Brooklyn leads, with Manhattan, Buffalo and Rochester next. Even so, the top three cities hold under a fifth of the list, and the rest spread across hundreds of cities and towns. Where size is known, most are microbreweries and about a quarter are brewpubs.

Other Half Brewing Company in Brooklyn is known for hazy IPAs and pastry stouts. Threes Brewing in Gowanus is a brewery and coffee shop by day and a music venue by night. In Buffalo, Resurgence Brewing Company fills a restored building once used by a maker of wooden barrels.
