Breweries in North Carolina

North Carolina is a big brewery state with three strong centers instead of one. Charlotte, Asheville and Raleigh each hold a similar share, and together they account for about a quarter of the breweries. Wilmington, Durham, Greensboro and Winston-Salem add groups of their own.

About four in five places listed are breweries, and beer stores make up most of the rest. Where size is known, most are small microbreweries, with brewpubs next and a good number of regional breweries.

Brewery Bhavana in Raleigh is a brewery, dim sum restaurant, flower shop and bookstore under one roof. Wooden Robot Brewery in Charlotte runs a coffee bar, so its doors open in the morning. In Durham, Ponysaurus Brewing Company began in an attic above The Cookery.
