Commonwealth Brewing Co is a beach brewery on Pleasure House Road in Virginia Beach. It sits inside the historic Chesapeake Beach #4, a former fire and rescue station. The website places it in the funky beach cottage community of Chic's Beach.
Natalie and Jeramy Biggie founded Commonwealth here in 2015. The brewery makes a huge range of styles, and goses are a big part of the list. Recent names include Liquid Aloha and Tiki Townie goses, Big Kahuna and Gone Troppo IPAs, False Idols helles lager and BBA Talk Story, a barrel aged stout.
Commonwealth also makes Foamies hard seltzer, inspired by vintage surf culture and tiki drinks. The website says the seltzers use 100% real fruit and are vegan and gluten-free. Coffee is on the menu too, and the day starts early.
