Wasserhund Brewing Company is a brewpub and pizza kitchen on Belaire Avenue in Chesapeake. It is one of three Wasserhund locations, with the others in Virginia Beach and Norfolk. The patio here is dog friendly.
Founders Christine and Aaron are high school sweethearts with chemical engineering degrees and a love of German drinking culture. The name means water dog in German. It honors their family dog, Hertz.
The menu leans German and Italian. There are pizzas with a cauliflower crust option, a made from scratch beer bratwurst, a jumbo Bavarian pretzel and a vegan brat. Kids, gluten free and brunch menus are all on offer.
The Chesapeake calendar includes Tuesday night trivia, Friend Feud game nights and a Monday run club. It is one of the most reviewed beer spots in Chesapeake on this site.
