About Ground Breaker Brewing and Gastropub

From Ground Breaker's own website and its Google listing, read September 30, 2026.

Ground Breaker Brewing and Gastropub is a dedicated gluten-free brewpub on Southeast 7th Avenue in Portland. Its website says it opened in 2011 as the first dedicated gluten-free brewery in the United States. Nothing that contains gluten is allowed through the door.

The brewery runs a 7-barrel system and makes ales, lagers and sour beers. The brewers use malted rice, millet and buckwheat, along with teff and sorghum syrup. Its website says the beers have won seven medals at the Great American Beer Festival and an award at the World Beer Cup.

Food comes from Salvi PDX, which provides the menu in the dining room. The brewery says everything on that menu is naturally gluten-free. Google mentions gluten-free fried chicken, pupusas and nachos.

The pub is all ages, and the outdoor seating is dog-friendly. You can also take beer home in cans, kegs and growler fills.
