Square One Brewery & Distillery is a brewery, distillery and restaurant in Lafayette Square, St. Louis. It opened in February 2006 as a neighborhood brewery and restaurant, and in 2008 it became what the website calls Missouri's first microdistillery since Prohibition. Google describes global pub grub with craft beer and house spirits, a vintage bar and a patio.
The building is on the National Register of Historic Places. Christopher Schumacher built it as a tavern in 1883, and Anheuser-Busch later ran it as a tied house. After a fire in 2004, owner Steve Neukomm renovated the building and its courtyard.
The beer list includes Park Avenue Pale Ale, Light Squared, El Guapo Cervecero, a Mexican style lager, and a West Coast I.P.A. The Bavarian Weizen comes from a recipe given to the brew master on a coaster at the Stuttgarter Hofbräu.
A full bar adds cocktails, wine and spirits. Square One hosts birthday parties, rehearsal dinners and corporate events.
