Barbarian Downtown Beer Bar is the downtown Boise bar of Barbarian Brewing, on West Main Street. Barbarian brews traditional barrel aged and sour beers, and this is where to drink them in the middle of the city. The brewery itself runs a second taproom in Garden City.
Barbarian makes small batch beers that it describes as funky, sour and savagely good. The website says the brewers go well beyond mass market beer. Expect sours and barrel aged beers on the list, with seasonal releases along the way.
Some new batches land at both locations on the same day. A recent example was Fall Ale, a 4.5% rye saison made with Belgian saison yeast and Belgian malts. The brewery also sells 4-packs of collaboration beers.
The downtown bar runs its own events. Game Night Live has hosted Rock'n Bingo here, and that night was 21 and older.
