Original Pattern Brewing is a brewery and taproom on 4th Street in Oakland, open since 2018. It is known for its wet hop program. Since 2023 the brewery has driven to the hop fields of the Pacific Northwest itself, hauling back fresh hops for its own beers and for other Bay Area breweries.
The draft list rotates often and leans on lagers and hoppy beers. The website says Yamagata, a rice lager brewed with jasmine rice, won a 2025 World Beer Cup gold. It says The Next Chapter session IPA took GABF gold in 2022 and silver in 2023.
There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, first come, first served. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor patios but not inside. On Thursdays, Muffin Lab brings its English muffin sandwiches.
You can order kegs and cans online for pickup, or have beer shipped anywhere in California. It is one of the most reviewed beer spots in Oakland on this site.
