About Golden Cactus Brewing
Golden Cactus Brewing is a brewery on 5th Street Southwest in Roanoke, in the West End neighborhood. It fills a historic open-air warehouse that was a Royal Crown Cola bottling factory in the 1950s. Three Virginia Tech graduates bought the building and opened the brewery in August 2020.
The beer list runs wide. Recent pours include Paddy Wampus, a dry Irish stout, and Shnooky, a West Coast style IPA. Pickle Rick is a kettle soured beer, and Pepo is a light watermelon sour.
The taproom also pours Main Squeeze, a hard lemonade seltzer the brewery lists as gluten-free. There is a patio, and the website talks up pinball and plants. Food Hut is next door and takes online orders.
Events include live music, pop-up markets and a Mid-Week Market on Wednesday evenings with local vendors. Trivia nights show up on the events calendar too.
