The Answer Brewpub is a brewery, Vietnamese fusion kitchen and retro arcade on West Broad Street in Richmond. It pours from 70 rotating taps in a 12,000 square foot space. The website calls it RVA's first Asian-owned craft brewery.
An Bui opened The Answer in 2014, next door to his family's restaurant, Mekong. The website says he was a James Beard semifinalist for outstanding beer producer in 2018 and 2019. The motto is simple: Beer is the Answer.
Beer is brewed on a 5-barrel system, and the fermentation tanks are named after Star Wars characters. The Joose sours are packed with fruit purees and spices. The "Andall" infuses stouts with extras like toasted coconut, and the website says Dark Helmet IPA won gold at the 2024 Virginia Craft Beer Cup.
The kitchen serves bánh mì, Wake N Bacon jasmine fried rice, Mekong rocket shrimp and burgers. More people have reviewed The Answer on Google than any other brewery, taproom or beer shop in Richmond on this site.
