Black Laboratory Brewing is a brewery on East Houston Street on the East Side of San Antonio. Its website says the place was inspired by two scientists and one very good dog. The taproom shares its building with 2-1-Dough, a pizza spot, so you can grab a pint from Black Laboratory and order off their menu.
House taps run from light lagers to bigger, hoppier beers, including Hoochie Daddy, an easy American lager, and Greetings From Helles, a golden Helles lager brewed with German pilsner malt. Hackberry Pale Ale is hopped with Azzacca, Columbus and Chinook, The Lab is a West Coast IPA, and Lil' Grizzly Greg's is an amber ale brewed with Texas honey and juniper berries. The brewery also pours seltzers, hard sodas, a rotating list of guest beers from other breweries, and a few non-alcoholic options.
The space is wheelchair accessible, with an accessible entrance, parking lot, restroom and seating. A Tuesday food pop-up brings in a rotating local vendor, and Wednesday nights bring live trivia with prizes from Black Laboratory and 2-1-Dough. Every second and fourth Wednesday, the Speed Burros run club stops in for Joggers N Lagers.
