City Orchard is a cider taproom at Sawyer Yards in Houston, and it makes beer too. The apples come from family-owned farms on the shores of Lake Ontario in Western New York. They are pressed at the farm, and the juice is trucked to Houston to become cider.
The taproom is big. It has 82 seats, a 50-foot marble top bar and 24 taps pouring cider, beer and nitro. The room is open to the production space, and an eight-screen video wall shows the games.
Outside, a 2,000 square foot deck sits under two live oak trees. Friendly dogs are welcome if they stay leashed. The food menu runs from pizzas to paninis and wings.
Trivia night is every Thursday. The taproom also hosts Jukebox Bingo and comedy nights. You can reserve sections of the taproom or the whole venue for a private party.
