About Grind City Brewing Co.
From Grind City Brewing's own website and its Google listing, read September 30, 2026.
Grind City Brewing Co. is a brewery and taproom on Waterworks Avenue in Memphis. It sits in the former Tri-State Plywood & Veneer Company buildings, which Bill and Hopper Seely, a father and son, bought after the company closed. The taproom opened to the public in October 2020.
Inside, the website says you will notice repurposed wood left by the building's previous tenants. The original chair blueprints decorate the beer cans. The taproom is 2,500 square feet and sits on nearly 2 acres of green space.
The flagships are Poppy's Pils, an American pilsner, Thaddeus, an amber lager, The Godhopper, a hazy IPA, and Tiger Tail, a craft malt liquor aged on toasted American oak. Seasonal beers rotate in. The taproom serves up to 16 draft options.
Food comes from rotating food trucks. The taproom also has a 2,400 square foot patio and an active calendar of trivia, live music and special events. More people have reviewed Grind City on Google than all but five other breweries in Memphis on this site.
