Detroit Beer Co. is a brewpub on Broadway in Downtown Detroit, open since September 2003. It fills the first two floors of the historic Hartz Building. Comerica Park, Ford Field and the Detroit Opera House are all steps away, which makes it an easy stop before or after a game or show.
The ten hectoliter brewhouse was custom built and sits on the first floor in full view of the tables. It turns out seven to nine house beers a day, and the lineup rotates. Broadway lager even goes into the beer cheese soup.
The kitchen serves eclectic American food, from Brewhouse Nachos and soft Bavarian pretzels to jambalaya, fish and chips and burgers. There is a kids menu, plus house cocktails and wine for anyone skipping the beer.
Seating runs across both floors, and either can be reserved for a party. On Tigers and Lions game days the hours shift, and every big NFL game is on.
