Falls City Beer is a brewery and taproom on East Liberty Street in NuLu, Louisville. The name dates to 1905, and the website calls it Louisville's original brewery. The taproom pours 16 of its own beers on tap.
The lineup mixes history with new ideas. There is a classic pilsner inspired by the original 1905 style, plus a Kentucky Common, a beer style developed in Louisville in the 1850s. Hipster Repellant, a West Coast IPA, is one of its top sellers.
Falls City brews the official beers for Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville FC. Its fall OttoFest honors Otto Doerr, the first brewer hired in July 1905. Head Brewer Cameron Finnis leads a small team of three.
The building also holds a private event space for birthdays, rehearsal dinners and work gatherings. It is one of the most reviewed beer spots in Louisville on this site.
