Hillcrest Brewing Company is a bar and pizzeria on University Avenue in Hillcrest, San Diego. Its own website calls it the first out and proud gay brewery in the world. It opened in 2012 as a neighborhood gathering place for the Hillcrest community.
The brewery no longer brews on site, but it still pours a few of its own recipes alongside guest beers. Its full lineup runs to more than two dozen taps, many of them from other independent San Diego breweries.
The kitchen makes its dough, sauces and dressings from scratch. Wings are marinated and oven baked, and the pretzel and Italian style meatballs are two of the kitchen's signature snacks. Google describes the food as stone-fired pizzas and wings alongside pints, growlers and kegs.
