Pure Project Balboa Park is a taproom on Fifth Avenue in San Diego, right next to Balboa Park. It's one of five Pure Project taprooms in San Diego County, with sister spots in Carlsbad, Miramar, North Park and Vista. The idea for the brewery came together in 2013, when two San Diego friends sketched it out on a backpacking trip in Colorado.
The taproom pours Pure Project's full lineup, from its Core Collection to specialty IPAs and double IPAs, stouts, sours and rotating wildcards. Its non-alcoholic beers include Grounded IPA and Sunsip Blonde. Beyond beer, Pure Project also makes hard seltzers, wine, cider and hard smoothies.
Pure Project's cans carry its own motto: quality ingredients and attention to detail matter, from grain to glass. The brewery also hosts private events at its taprooms, including weddings and holiday parties, which you can book through its website. Each taproom, including Balboa Park, has its own to-go ordering, so you can take beer and other drinks with you after a visit.
