About Kardinal Hall
Kardinal Hall is a beer hall and beer garden on Preston Avenue in Charlottesville's Midtown, between Downtown and UVA. It sits in the art-deco Coca-Cola building from 1939, a repurposed warehouse and bottling plant. Its website calls it a modern take on an Alpine-inspired beer hall.
The website lists 25 rotating draft beers and more than 75 cans and bottles. It says the list mixes traditional European breweries with Virginia craft breweries. The kitchen makes its food from scratch with local ingredients, and Sunday brunch is on the menu.
Outside, there are two regulation bocce courts, and the website lists board games too. Live music plays on Tuesday and Sunday evenings. Live sports are on TV, especially UVA, American college football and international football matches.
Brothers Josh Hunt and John Woodriff came up with the idea after visiting beer gardens in U.S. cities and in Europe. The website calls the hall family friendly and says dogs are welcome in the beer garden. It is one of the most reviewed beer spots in Charlottesville on this site.
