About Origin Beer Lab
Origin Beer Lab is a brewery on South Railroad Avenue in Ashland, Virginia. Its website says it was built for research, development and teaching of all things beer. It is a sister company of Center of the Universe Brewing Company.
The website says the beer is made on a completely electric 3 barrel system. It says the lab features a maximum of 8 beers on draft. The only place to try them is on site, because none of the beer goes out for distribution.
The building has its own history. James Goodrich Hughes built the two-story brick building in 1901, and his name is still carved into a cement plaque at the roofline. Hughes Drug stayed in business there until 1985.
Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome on the front patio and in the beer garden. The draft list also includes wine and non-alcoholic beer. It is one of the most reviewed beer spots in Ashland on this site.
