Breweries in Ohio

Based on the breweries in the brewery.fyi register and their own websites, read September 2026.

Ohio is one of the biggest brewery states in the country, and beer stores are a large part of the picture. Roughly a third of the places listed are shops that sell beer to go. Most of the rest are breweries, and where size is known, most are microbreweries, with brewpubs next.

Columbus and Cincinnati hold about a tenth of the list each, and Cleveland comes third. Together they account for just under a quarter, and the rest spread across about three hundred cities and towns.

Great Lakes Brewing Company calls itself Ohio's original craft brewery, and its first brewpub is in Cleveland's Ohio City neighborhood. Rhinegeist Brewery fills a pre-Prohibition bottling plant in Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine. In Toledo, Maumee Bay Brewing Company brews in the Oliver House, right under the High Level Bridge.
