Templin Family Brewing is a family run brewery and taproom in the Granary District, close to downtown Salt Lake City. It specializes in traditional lagers brewed the German way, with fresh ingredients, slow pours and big foam. The 15-barrel brewhouse is open to the taproom, so you can see and smell the whole process.
Kevin Templin left Maine for the snow in 1990 and met his wife Britt in Alta. Together they started a family and then this brewery. The first beer was poured here in October 2018.
Lagers lead the list, from Granary KellerBier and München Helles to Jarda Czech Pilsner. The website calls the Granary KellerBier its flagship and an award winner. The brewers also dabble in IPAs, sours and barrel aged beer.
Templin makes its own naturally fermented wine too, with no added sulfates. A small rotating list of cider and spirits rounds it out. Every Monday, the Salt Lake City Chess Club plays in the taproom, and all skill levels are welcome.
