Two Locals Brewing is a brewery in the uCity Square section of West Philadelphia, with its taproom on Market Street near 37th. It was founded by brothers Richard and Mengistu, who set out to build Philadelphia's first Black owned brewery. Mengistu was born in Liberia and came to the city at age 7, while Richard was born and raised there.
Richard bought a one gallon homebrew kit in December 2016, and the brothers started brewing together in Mengistu's backyard and then Richard's kitchen. They built a following by taking their beer to pop up sampling events around Philadelphia before opening this taproom.
On a tour here you can taste beers such as Good Jawn, Nubian and Clean Sweep, poured straight from the brewery's own taps. Tours run by appointment on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The entrance is on 37th Street, between Market and Filbert. Two Locals beer is also sold in cans and on draft at bottle shops, bars and restaurants around Philadelphia.
