About Mountain King Brewing Company
Mountain King Brewing Company is a brewery in the mountain town of Windham, in the Catskills. It opened the day after Thanksgiving 2024 in a former downtown pizzeria beside the Batavia Kill River. Its website says it was built on a love of beer, music, skiing and New York pride.
Bob and Sarah McLynn started it, with Vermont brewmaster Owen Hartman. Bob had already launched breweries in San Diego and New Jersey. The name comes from a bear that lives behind the family's house on Cave Mountain.
The beer list has some playful names. Magic Bear is a 7% IPA with citrus and pine notes. Peaches and Cream is a kettle sour made with 200 pounds of peaches and vanilla beans, and Hive Heist is a Vienna lager brewed with 40 pounds of local honey.
