KettleHouse Brewing Co. in Bonner is a brewery and taproom on Cold Smoke Avenue. The street shares its name with the flagship beer. Cold Smoke is a dark, smooth Scotch ale with a slightly sweet coffee finish.
The name comes from the light, bottomless powder that falls in Montana. Skiers and boarders use the same words for a perfect powder day. It is a 6.5% ale with 11 IBUs, so it drinks easier than it looks.
Double Haul is the hoppy one. It is an India pale ale made with Montana barley and Northwest grown Cascade hops, at 6.5% and 65 IBUs. The brewery says it was the first modern craft brewery in Montana to package an IPA in cans.
Hellgate is a honey hefeweizen at 4.8%, left slightly hazy for body. The beer list also includes Fresh Bongwater hemp pale ale, Snowblind white stout and Montanarita, a lemon lime beer with salt. The entrance and parking lot are both wheelchair accessible.
