Breweries in Montana
Based on the breweries in the brewery.fyi register and their own websites, read September 2026.
Montana has three brewery cities of nearly equal weight. Billings, Missoula and Bozeman each hold about a tenth of the breweries, and Helena is close behind. Together those first three hold only about a third.
The rest reach across dozens of towns, including Whitefish, Kalispell, Butte, Great Falls, Bigfork and Hamilton. Almost every place listed is a brewery, with only a few beer stores, cider spots and a beer hall. Where size is known, most are microbreweries, with a good number of brewpubs.
Montana Brewing Company in Billings and Tamarack Brewing Co in Missoula are two of the most reviewed breweries in the state. Bridger Brewing in Bozeman also draws plenty of reviews. So do Backslope Brewing in Columbia Falls and Lolo Peak Brewery & Grill in Lolo.

Planning a brewery trip in Montana
Billings, Missoula and Bozeman all make good bases, since each has a solid group of breweries. Helena is another easy pick, with plenty of stops of its own.
Beyond those cities the breweries sit farther apart, so plan each stop before you drive. Whitefish, Kalispell, Butte and Great Falls each have a few breweries.
Every brewery page on brewery.fyi has hours, a map and what to know before you go. Check it on the day, since taproom hours can change.
