Surly Brewing Co. runs a huge Beer Hall and Beer Garden on Malcolm Avenue SE in Minneapolis, near Prospect Park. It opened in 2014. The brewery says the space is big enough for a thousand people to eat and drink on any given Thursday.
Year-round beers include Furious IPA, Axe Man, Mosh Pit Hazy, Xtra-Citra and Hell lager. Barrel-aged Darkness stouts, small batch experiments and taproom exclusives round out the taps. There are canned cocktails, hop water and THC drinks too.
A full kitchen runs the Beer Hall menu, with a kids menu and a non-alcoholic menu. Upstairs, Surly Pizza serves New Haven-style pies. The website says people who do not drink beer come just for the food.
Trivia runs on the events calendar, and concerts play on the Surly stage. Darkness Day is the brewery's biggest party of the year. More people have reviewed Surly on Google than any other brewery, taproom or beer shop in Minneapolis on this site.
