Minnesota spreads its breweries across well over a hundred cities and towns. Minneapolis, St Paul and Duluth hold only about a quarter of them between them. The rest sit in places like Rochester, Stillwater, Burnsville and Winona.
Most places listed are breweries, and where size is known, most are small microbreweries. Brewpubs come next, and beer stores make up about a tenth of the list.
Surly Brewing Co. runs a beer hall in Minneapolis that it says is big enough for a thousand people. In St Paul, Bad Weather Brewing Company runs a free shuttle to every home Wild game. Urban Growler Brewing Company calls itself the first women-owned microbrewery in Minnesota.

Planning a brewery trip in Minnesota
Minneapolis makes the easiest base, since more breweries cluster there than anywhere else in the state. Indeed Brewing Company and Taproom sits in one of the city's tightest brewery clusters, with several more within about half a mile. St Paul and Duluth each have a good group too.
