About Courthouse Brew Co
From Courthouse Brew Co's own website and its Google listing, read October 5, 2026.
Courthouse Brew Co is a brewery and taproom in Worcester, inside the historic MJ Whitall Mills complex. Its website says it has been affectionately called Worcester's speakeasy of breweries. Co-owners Dan Whalen and Mark Gawlak are lawyers by trade, and they opened the taproom in July 2023.
The room is a little off the beaten path, and no secret word is required to get in. Inside are historic Worcester courthouse photos, exposed brick, a hand-crafted hickory bar and a neon sign that reads "you've been served."
The brewers like to play with ingredients. The website mentions beers with coffee and molasses, and an IPA with pineapple, cinnamon and lactose. The taproom also pours seltzer cocktails and mocktails, and the kitchen serves food.
Thursday evenings bring live music with an open mic night. Sunday afternoons bring football on the big screen.
