Wild Onion Brewery & Banquets is a brewpub, banquet hall and packaging brewery in Lake Barrington. Its website says it opened in 2003 and is a family-owned business from Barrington. The company says it fired up its first batch of Paddy Pale Ale in 1996 and counts itself among Chicagoland's first craft breweries.
The name honors the Potawatomi word that gave Chicago its name. A timber frame bar and dining room is anchored by a massive stone fireplace. The full production brewery sits below the pub and makes ales and lagers through the year.
