About Chalice Brewing
Chalice Brewing is a downtown brewery in Coeur d'Alene. It is housed in a building from 1918 that was renovated before opening. Its website says layers of walls were removed to uncover the original bricks.
Founder and lead brewer Brian Engdahl brews on a 3-barrel system. His website bio says he studied fermentation science at Oregon State University and worked at Widmer Brothers before opening Chalice. The brewery says it brews to style and sources ingredients from Idaho first, then the Pacific Northwest.
The menu pairs Chalice-brewed beer with guest taps, ciders, hard tea and non-alcoholic drinks. The brewery also sells 32-ounce Crowlers to go. The patio used to be a few parking spaces and is now an outdoor stage for local musicians, with seating.
The website says live music, tastings and community events keep the calendar busy. Black Lodge Brewing Co. is 0.1 miles away, so a second stop is easy.
