Sky Puppy Brewing sits on the ground floor of Casa Bomberos in Ybor City, a building constructed in 1888. It served as Tampa Fire Station #2 until 1924, and the brewery says it is the oldest original firehouse still standing in the city. Matthew and Danielle McKinnon created the brewery.
Brewer Matthew McKinnon balances classical training with avant-garde ideas. The menu covers thirteen styles with seasonal twists, and every recipe keeps evolving. The website lists a 2025 World Beer Cup bronze for its schwarzbier and a 2026 Best Florida Beer gold for its West Coast IPA.
Inside, original brick walls show layers of the building's history, and work by local artists covers the walls. The tasting room seats 35. The bar sits in a secluded alcove with room for only five guests at a time.
Sky Puppy is one block from the district's main strip, at Trolley Stop #4. Artists and event planners can reach the brewery by email about showcases and events.
