BarrieHaus Beer Co is a lager-focused microbrewery in Ybor City, built on a family brewing history the brewery traces back 150 years. Co-founder and head brewer Jim Barrie descends from Philip Kling, who founded Peninsular Brewing in Michigan in 1863. Kling's son-in-law, Louis Schimmel, later founded Tivoli Brewing, maker of Altes Lager.
Lagers lead here, and Export and Pilsner are always on tap. Many pour through side pull faucets imported from the Czech Republic, which build a dense, wet foam. The website lists a 2022 World Beer Cup gold for Family Tradition, a Vienna lager, and a 2024 gold for Bublina, a Czech-style pilsner.
The room has a wrap-around copper bartop, a large indoor taproom, a cozy Den and an outdoor Biergarten. Families are welcome. Well behaved, leashed and vaccinated dogs can join you on the outdoor patio only.
Weekly Tubesday Trivia and monthly First Fridays run here, along with special events. BarrieHaus is co-owned by Jim Barrie, Brittney Barrie and Junbae Lee, and it also runs a taproom in Trinity.
