Mr. Dunderbak's Restaurant and Brewery is a German restaurant, beer hall, deli and brewery in the Oak Ramble Shopping Center near USF. Since 1974 it has served Tampa, first as a franchise deli at University Mall, then from 2009 at Tampa Palms with its own microbrewery, Dunderbrau.
The menu is mostly made from scratch and leans on Swabian family recipes, a little Americanized over the years. Potato pancakes are made fresh each morning. Google describes a European-style beer garden with German and American food.
Beer is the other draw. The site says the drafts and bottle shop cover more than 500 craft and European brands, alongside the house Dunderbrau beers. A European market and German-style deli sell cookies, candies and more to take home.
Families are welcome, and the site promises candy for the kids and beer for the parents. Live polka music plays on weekends, and team trivia runs Monday evenings. More people have reviewed Dunderbak's on Google than any other brewery, taproom or beer shop in Tampa on this site.
