DC Brau is a production brewery and taproom off Bladensburg Road in Northeast Washington. Its website says it was the first manufacturing brewery the nation's capital could call its own in modern times. Brandon Skall and Jeff Hancock tapped the first keg on Tax Day 2011.
The signature beers include The Corruption IPA, Joint Resolution hazy IPA, The Public pale ale, Brau Pils and Penn Quarter Porter. Seasonal and special releases rotate through the year. DC Brau also makes hard seltzers in flavors like Key Lime Pie.
The brewery fills more than 48,500 square feet of warehouse space, down the driveway behind Roaming Rooster. You can drink in the outdoor beer garden or inside the taproom, which is covered in murals by local DC artists. A food truck or pop-up is usually on site, and Pizzeria Paradiso is the current one.
Families are welcome, and there are snacks and board games for kids. The events calendar runs weekly live music, trivia and shows on the loading dock.

Can I bring my dog to DC Brau?
Only outside. Pets are not allowed in the taproom because it is a production facility. When the beer garden is open for the season, dogs are welcome out there.
Is DC Brau kid-friendly?
Yes. The website says kids of all ages are welcome, with snacks and board games to keep them busy.
Can I bring outside food?
Yes. There is usually a food truck or pop-up on site too, and Pizzeria Paradiso is the current one. Sundays are bring your own food.

Before you visit DC Brau
Look for the driveway behind Roaming Rooster, since the brewery sits back from Bladensburg Road. There is plenty of parking in the private lot and a bike rack out front. The nearest Metro is Brookland-CUA on the red line.
Check the tap list and events page on dcbrau.com before you go. The taproom is closed early in the week, and Sunday closes earlier than Friday and Saturday.
Other breweries are a short drive away. Atlas Brew Works in Ivy City is 1.5 miles off, and Other Half is 1.7 miles off.
