Washington, DC puts its whole beer map inside one city. Every place listed is in Washington itself, in neighborhoods like Navy Yard and Ivy City.
About two thirds of the places are breweries. Beer gardens make up about a fifth, and a few beer stores and a beer hall fill out the rest. Where size is known, microbreweries and brewpubs lead, with a couple of taprooms and contract brewers.
Bluejacket brews in the old boilermaker shops of the navy yard and pours a rotating list of its own beers and cask ales. DC Brau's website says it was the first manufacturing brewery the nation's capital could call its own in modern times. In Ivy City, Other Half Brewing Washington DC has a taproom next to its largest production facility, with a rooftop to drink on.
