About Ahnapee Brewery, Algoma
Ahnapee Brewery, Algoma is a brewpub on the Lake Michigan shore, just south of Door County. The brewery was founded in 1868 under the town's old name, Ahnapee. It reopened in 2013 in a two-stall garage, and the current taproom opened in 2022 a couple of blocks south.
Sixteen Ahnapee beers are on tap. Little Soldier, Two Stall, Hail Mary Helles and Cherry Mechanic are always there, and some of the other pours are experimental. The brewery says Two Stall, its chocolate milk stout, won at the World Beer Cup in 2022.
Glass garage doors bring the outdoors in, and the patio looks out over Lake Michigan. Dogs are welcome on the patio. The entrance, parking lot, restroom and seating are all wheelchair accessible.
Snacks include chips, pretzels and beef sticks. You can carry in food from a local restaurant or the grocery deli, but not drinks. Wine, cider, hard seltzer and non-alcoholic options sit alongside the beer.
