Breweries in West Virginia

Based on the breweries in the brewery.fyi register and their own websites, read September 2026.

No single city dominates the West Virginia beer map. Charleston leads with about a tenth of the breweries, Morgantown comes close behind, and Elkins is third. The rest are spread across more than thirty cities and towns, from Berkeley Springs and Charles Town to Davis and Parkersburg.

Most places listed are breweries, and beer stores make up about a seventh, with a beer garden or two besides. Where size is known, microbreweries lead and brewpubs come next.

Several of the most reviewed stops sit outside the biggest cities. The Peddler in Huntington, Abolitionist Ale Works in Charles Town and Stumptown Ales in Davis all draw plenty of reviews. Weathered Ground Brewery in Ghent and Screech Owl Brewing/Spent Grain Cafe in Bruceton Mills do too.

Planning a brewery trip in West Virginia

Charleston and Morgantown make the easiest bases, since the most breweries cluster there. Elkins is a good third choice, and Huntington and Parkersburg each have stops of their own.

Because the map is so spread out, plan your route before you set out. Some of the most reviewed stops are in towns like Davis, Ghent and Bruceton Mills.

Every brewery page on brewery.fyi has hours, a map and what to know before you go. Check it on the day, since hours can change.
