About Pen Druid Brewing
Pen Druid Brewing is a brewery on a farm in Sperryville, in Rappahannock County. Its website calls Pen Druid Fermentation a 27-acre permaculture operation at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah National Park. The beer is spontaneously fermented in a coolship and brewed in a wood-fired brewhouse.
The site says brothers Lain, Van and Jennings Carney started Pen Druid in 2015 with Jonathan Staples. Its spontaneous beers follow the Lambic and Gueuze tradition of Belgium. Pen Druid also makes natural cider from local apples, and the website lists natural wine too.
There is inside seating, plus a covered patio and a Biergarten. Leashed dogs are welcome outside only. The website says SUMAC serves wood-fired food here on weekends, and outside food is welcome.
