Rebel Toad Brewing Co. is a small, independent 10 barrel brewery in the Marina Arts District of downtown Corpus Christi. Owner and brewmaster Hector Cavazos was a teacher who got hooked on brewing after watching a couple of documentaries. He started with a half barrel system in his garage and opened the brewery in December 2015.
The year-round lineup is Bionic Blonde, Abracahopra IPA and Liquid Haze, a New England IPA. Seasonals cycle through the year, from Angryman Porter in winter to El Sapo, a Mexican lager, in spring and summer. Picklehead is a summer sour.
The taproom pours 8 to 12 beers on draft. It is laid back and family-friendly, with board games and local musicians now and then. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio.
There is no kitchen, so bring your own snacks or order from the neighbors. You can fill a growler or grab six-packs of Bionic Blonde and Abracahopra IPA to go.
