Ants Beer Cave is a bottle shop and bar on East St. Elmo Road in South Austin. Owner Ant originally planned to open a brewery, but decided to bring together beers from other breweries instead, opening the Cave in August 2024. The result is part bottle shop, part sports bar, with indoor and outdoor pickleball courts built in.
The wall holds more than 250 beverages, from craft beer to THC drinks and non-alcoholic pours. Ants also pours two house collaborations: Rally, a lager brewed by St. Elmo Brewing, and Joy, a hazy IPA made with Vacancy Brewing. The draft list changes as kegs blow, so ask the bar what is on tap.
Its website calls the space a brewery-vibe warehouse, with a big patio, TVs tuned to every game, a pool table, shuffleboard and pop-a-shot. Two food trucks park on site: Knuckle Sandwich for deli sandwiches and The Pizza Den for hand-stretched pizza.
Families are welcome on the patio in the afternoon, though the bar shifts to 21 and up later at night. The courts open up for pickleball on Thursday evenings, and Ants also books private buyouts of the bar and courts for groups.
