Bull City Burger and Brewery is a locally owned, independent restaurant and craft brewery in downtown Durham. It opened in March 2011 and is open 7 days a week. More people have reviewed Bull City Burger and Brewery on Google than any other brewery, taproom or beer shop in Durham on this site.
The restaurant calls itself farm-to-fork. It grinds North Carolina pasture-raised beef daily for its burgers and all-beef hotdogs, and it makes its own buns, sauerkraut and bacon. Starters include Legendary Fried Pickle Chips and Jalapeño Bull Horns.
The brewery keeps up to eight beers on tap, made with just malt, hops, yeast and water. Over an 18-month cycle it brews 59 different true-to-style ales and lagers. The tap list has included RDM Dortmunder, Viola Hefe Weiss and Watts Oatmeal Stout.
Counter service, a children's play area and a semi-private meeting room all sit in full view of the brewery. Grain left over from brewing feeds locally farmed pigs and chickens, and the fryer oil becomes bio-diesel.
