About Lunkenheimer Craft Brewing Co.
Lunkenheimer Craft Brewing Co. is a family-owned, small-batch brewery and taproom on North Seneca Street in Weedsport. It sits about one mile off NYS Thruway Exit 40 in the historic Erie Canal village. The brewery says it opened in September 2014 as the first brewery in Cayuga County since Prohibition.
The taproom pours 12 beers. The focus is kolsch, pale ales and other classic styles, with fruit kolsches such as blackberry and blood orange in the mix. Cans are sold to go.
The building is a former bank, and the taproom is rustic, with plenty of wood. The old bank safe now works as a walk-in cooler. The room holds about 60 people.
A wood-fired pizza oven handles the food, and there is an outdoor patio for good weather. Live music is part of the taproom's schedule. The brewery also runs a second taproom on Sodus Bay in North Rose.
