About Climbing Bines Hop Farm & Brewery
Climbing Bines Hop Farm & Brewery is a brewery and hop farm on Hansen Point Road in Penn Yan, New York. Its website calls it New York State's premier farm-to-barrel brewery. The beer is brewed with estate-grown hops and local barley, the site says.
The hop yard covers 1.5 acres and has nearly 1,500 hills. It grows seven cultivars: Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Hallertau, Magnum, Nugget and Willamette. It all started in 2007, when co-owner Chris Hansen and friends planted 8 hop plants to improve their home-brewing.
The taproom opened in 2013, in a renovated farm shed that belonged to Chris Hansen's grandfather. You can order a tasting, a pint, a 32 oz. grenade or a growler. The website also mentions views of Seneca Lake, a walk through the hop yard and a game of Corn Hole.
Dogs are welcome on a leash, and there is plenty of outdoor seating. Google lists a wheelchair accessible entrance and parking lot. It is one of the most reviewed beer spots in Penn Yan on this site.
