Resurgence Brewing Company is a brewery and restaurant on Chicago Street in Buffalo's Old First Ward. Since 2019 it has filled a restored 1800s building that once housed the E.B Holmes Machinery Company, which made wooden barrels. The two-story taproom and beer garden look out over the brewery itself.
Resurgence first opened in June 2014 on Niagara Street. Owner Jeff Ware spent two years before that brewing test batches in his kitchen. The company says it now brews just under 5,000 gallons of beer a week, and its lineup also includes Blackbird Cider Works hard cider.
The Buffalo kitchen runs a full menu of burgers, wings, sliders and shareable plates like a giant pretzel. The menu says its Barley Brussels won Best Overall Food Item at the 2025 Taste of Buffalo. There is a kids menu too.
Upstairs is an event space for weddings and private parties, and the brewery offers tours. More people have reviewed Resurgence on Google than any other brewery, taproom or beer shop in Buffalo on this site.
