Gene McCarthy's Old First Ward Brewing Company is a pub with its own brewery on Hamburg Street in Buffalo's Old First Ward. The taps run straight from the brewery to your glass. On an average day about nine house beers are pouring.
The list covers Streaker IPA, Geney's Lager, NOTA Pale Ale, Crikrat Kölsch and Red Clover Irish Red, plus seasonals like a Märzen and a festbier. Guinness is on tap too. Cask ale gets its own nights, including Firkin Friday every week.
The kitchen serves lunch and dinner every day, indoors and out, and takeout is available. In warmer months the beer garden out front looks toward the Old First Ward grain silos and the passing trains.
Tuesday is trivia night, and Saturday nights bring live music. It is one of the most reviewed beer spots in Buffalo on this site.
