About K'sterer Brauhaus

Küsterer Brauhaus is a Munich-style bierhall on Bridge Street NW, on the West Side of Grand Rapids. It honors Christoph Küsterer, who the website says was the original German brewer in the Grand River Valley and Kent County. His family's brewing tradition, founded in 1847, lasted nearly a century.

The website calls it a Brauhaus, Bierhall, small winery and distiller tasting room and deli. It also calls itself the region's first craft brewery focused on German styles. Every Küsterer bier follows the Reinheitsgebot, using only water, malt, hops and yeast.

The bier list reads like a tour of Bavaria and Bohemia. It includes Küsterer Original Weißbier, Dunkelweizen, Edelhell, Bohemian Pils and Salzburger Märzen. Darker picks include Munich Dunkel, Schwarzbier and Rauchbier.

The street food menu fits the beer. Expect soft German pretzels, bar cheese with mild horseradish, bratwurst from local butchers, Leberkäse and schnitzel sandwiches, plus a vegan schnitzel. Google lists a wheelchair accessible entrance and parking lot.
