About Milkhouse Brewery
Milkhouse Brewery is a farm brewery at Stillpoint Farm on Dollyhyde Road in Mt Airy, Maryland. Its website says Tom Barse and Carolann McConaughy bought the farm in 2008 and opened the tasting room in June 2013. The owners say they are proud to have Maryland's first Class 8 farm brewery.
The beer leans on classic styles that the brewery says are improved with Maryland hops. It brews five year-round beers and rotates a couple of seasonal releases. A Stillpoint Reserve series and an All Maryland Beer program focus on locally grown ingredients.
The farm is part of the draw. The hopyard grows mostly Cascade and Chinook, and sheep graze in it for weed control. A mercantile next to the taproom sells local meats, eggs, cheeses, baked goods and yarn.
