About Argenta Brewing
Argenta Brewing is a lager brewery and tasting room on Hanover Street in Portland's West Bayside, making clean-drinking lager since 2024. The website calls it Portland's only lager saloon. Owner Ryan Dunlap wants it to feel like a modern take on the German lager saloons of the 1800s.
Those saloons, the website explains, were family friendly community centers welcoming to all. The name comes from Argenta, an 1860s Nevada silver mine that is now a ghost town. It was also the name of Ryan's college dorm.
Five draft lines, each with a Lukr side pull faucet, pour lagers from pale and light to dark and malty to hoppy pilsners. The list changes every few weeks, and every beer uses at least some Maine-grown grain. The Generic American Lager, the flagship, comes in 16oz 4-packs.
Hank & Arties serves smash burgers from a food truck Thursday through Monday. The space has hosted crafting workshops, reading groups and cribbage nights. Google lists a wheelchair accessible entrance, parking lot, restroom and seating.
