Honolulu Beerworks is a craft brewery and taproom on Hart Street in Kalihi, in the same building as Lion Coffee. Geoff Seideman and his wife Charmayne opened the brewery in Kaka'ako in 2014. The Kalihi taproom is its newer home, with the seating looking out over new brewing equipment.
From the start, the brewery has worked with unique and locally sourced ingredients. It now runs an experimental barrel aging program too. For every pint of Ola I'a POG Lager sold, it donates to Waikalua Loko I'a, a centuries-old Hawaiian fishpond in Kane'ohe.
The room is industrial, with high ceilings and a bar in the brewery's blue and white. There is a merch shop and a beer garden. Big Island artist Kai Kaulukukui's work fills the walls and the can labels.
Food comes from rotating food trucks, and parking is easy. The brewery also posts events, fundraisers and live music to its newsletter.
